Retention
At the completion of the "tooth moving" phase of treatment, EVERY patient enters a "tooth holding" phase to maintain the alignment of the teeth. Our office advocates long-term retainer wear as an insurance policy to hold the corrected tooth and bite alignment. We monitor all patients for at least two years after brace removal.
Orthodontic studies have shown that teeth have a tendency to move through life as part of a natural aging process. Therefore we recommend periodically checking the alignment of your teeth with your retainer well after your braces have been removed.
